Amazon.com Product Description The Sony ICF-C743 is a clock radio full of modern, and useful, features. To begin with, the clock radio has an unique illuminating floating light. This high-tech globe of light appears to hang in the air on its own, providing a certain distinctness to the display and adding a definite modern look to the established clock radio. Sony calls the design of the ICF-C743 an "interior design style" and true enough, the symmetrical oval is sleek and modern. This clock radio will look appropriate in any room. With the ICF-C743 you can wake up to FM or AM radio, a buzz alarm or four different melodic alarms. The snooze button on this clock radio is extendable, a nice option for those who relish those extra minutes of sleep. To go with the snooze button, Sony has also installed a nap timer. Set the alarm for 10, 20, 30, 60, 90 or 120 minutes and take your nap confident that the alarm will not let you oversleep. The extra-large amber LCD display is easy to see from across the room or while in bed with fuzzy eyes. There is a brightness control, perfect for reading the clock during the bright daylight hours, or in the pitch dark of nighttime. The FM/AM radio is a digitally synthesized tuner, and with fifteen presets (ten FM and five AM) it is an easy task to retrieve your favorite station. The clock runs via an included AC cord. There is no power outage safety with this radio, so make sure to use a back-up alarm should you expect a failure in electrical supply. What's in the Box Sony ICF-C743 clock radio, ninety day warranty and user's manual.

Great alarm clock, everything I was looking for! July 17, 2008 I was looking for an alarm clock with a non-irritating light, dual alarm and nice sounding alarm. This alarm clock is small, stylish and has delightful little sounds for the "buzzer" alarm setting. It has a "Summer" time setting and is very easy to set. I only wish that you could change the amount of time the snooze alarm allows you to snooze! Excellent purchase!
Great Clock February 23, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Great clock. Illuminating light is both cool and functional. It's compact and looks great. Display is easy to read. I previously had Sony's ICF-CD843V CD clock radio (which i also loved) but decided to downsize. I was looking for the same features that the larger clock had, in particular the beloved "Nap" button and the pleasant alarm ring. This was the best choice for me. My only complaint is that the buttons are small and not very easy to find when trying to turn off the alarm.
weird clock radio February 18, 2007 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought this clock radio mainly because it is has digital tuning but I sent it back. Its so light and unstable on its feet that whenever you try to operate it, it squirrels around on the table. You try to push a button and it squirts it off the table. Its weird shape also makes it hard to grab. Its like a hard, slick football. You have to get up and hold it with one had and push the buttons with your other. It needs a more stable perch on the table.
Very nice display January 1, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I just bought this clock because I liked it's display. The display can be clearly seen at night or at full daylight. It's dimmable, so this clock will not interfere with your sleep.
The built in alarm is very versatile. You can be awaken by the radio or by a melodic alarm. The melodic alarm has three different melodies you can choose from, and none of the three are particularly invasive.
Also, it has a base light with three operation modes: a) Permanently on, b) Permanently off, c) Blinking when the alarm sounds.
The only thing I don't like of this clock is that the radio tuner is a bit picky about FM reception. Sometimes you have to play with the power cord a little to hear the station you want (the power cord is the radio antenna). Also, It lacks a battery backup, so if you unplug it, it will loose all it's programming, including all the radio presets.
In any case, it's a good clock and it deserves the money I paid for.
Compact Size, Stylish & Reliable September 20, 2005 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
It's even smaller than you'd think, but it's a great alarm clock. Easy to use, nice to look at, and it'll fit virtually anywhere you place it.
