Great sound and portability for it's tiny size. November 20, 2008
I use a couple of these for several iPods, laptops and a portable DVD player.
PROs:
- Its sound is so much better than the built-in speakers in laptops and portable DVD players.
- It is very portable, I use it in the car and every place in the house, and outdoors especially for audiobooks and academic video lessons. My child uses it for watching his favorite DVDs while bathing and playing in the tub.
- It lasts a long time on batteries. I've been using these daily for almost a month, so far I've only changed batteries once.
CONs:
- It's not super easy to turn the top to switch it on (but I have gotten used to it), so I keep it on the "ON" position most of the time for convenience (especially since the volume is controlled by the device one connects it to).
Unusual Operating Behavior:
- When the battery level goes low it sounds like a radio station that is not getting a good signal and spits the audio about. So I use that as the indication to change my rechargeable batteries.

Sure, the sound is fine. But I don't know how anyone can USE this product with the horrible on-off switch. Looks like I'm not the only one. I'd send it back in an instant if it was worth the shipping. The only realistic way to turn it off is to remove the batteries -- clunky!

I see the reviews for this are great. The reason I bought this was because of the reviews. Mine is horrible! The off mechanism is not a switch. The tob grill turns to turn it off. Well, mine is almost impossible to turn off. It is very cheap feeling. I would spend $10 more and get a better one. I will just give this to my friend and get another one. On a good note the sound is quite good for podcasts. Music is marginal.
Lansing Orbital speaker November 10, 2008
Poor quality and could not shut the machine off. The on and off switch was stuck . I returned the item to manufacturer over two weeks ago and I haven not heard from them ever since.
Between the cost of purchase and mailing back to manufacturer, this turned out to be a bad decision to purchase on my part.
Great idea, decent sound, cheap contruction November 3, 2008
Very functional for the traveler or camper that wants to use their ipod without headphones or wants to share the music/podcast. Sound is good for a speaker of this size. Construction is a little cheap and it soon became an effort to turn off/on (which requires twisting the entire unit) but still a good buy.
