The Discovery will have you looking fashionable and turning heads. View larger. | Comfort and Crisp Sound for Your Ear Measuring 2.7 x 1.0 x 0.9 inches and weighing a mere 0.3 ounces, you'll barely know that the Discovery 925 is in your ear. But with its striking onyx-black and silver color combination and minimalist features, this one-of-a-kind earpiece will surely get you noticed--in a good way. (The earpiece is also available in alchemy-gold and cerise-pink). The Discovery 925 is designed to follow the contours of your cheek. It features a filtered glass bead that's been blasted and anodized for a ceramic high-gloss elegant finish. The ultra-lightweight design offers a secure comfortable fit so you can stay connected hands-free for hours. And the earpiece includes three uniquely shaped gel eartips--small, medium and large--that are designed to conform snugly to the contours of your ear without the need for an earloop stabilizer, so nothing will interfere with earrings or eyewear. Once you place the earpiece into your ear, making calls is as simple as it gets. It has a multi-function button on the diamond-shaped face that powers the device, dials or releases calls, triggers voice dialing, or kicks the earpiece into pairing mode. A second button lets you control the volume. For voice clarity, a 1.9-inch boom brings the microphone closer to your mouth to reduce background noise as you talk. The boom mic also houses the earpiece's antenna. And finally, a micro-USB port is located on the side of the earpiece for charging. AudioIQ Noise Control and On-the-Go Charging The Discovery 925 features AudioIQ technology that blocks out annoying background noise in most situations, giving you clear calls every time. The earpiece lets you roam up to 33 feet from your Bluetooth phone and it supports multipoint technology, which allows two Bluetooth devices to be paired to the earpiece. This means you can receive and make calls from two of your phones without having to switch earpieces. The Discovery 925 runs on a rechargeable lithium ion battery that gives you up to five hours of talk time and up to seven days of standby time from a single charge. And when the earpiece is not in use, you can store it in its unique color-coordinated case, which performs double duty with its sturdy but stylish construction and its integrated rechargeable battery. Not only will the case protect the earpiece from everyday hazards, but it will also keep your earpiece charged. Simply charge the case directly with the included AC charger or USB cable--with or without the earpiece in place--and when fully charged, it will have enough power provide your earpiece up to five hours of talk time for when you need it. Of course you can still charge the ear piece directly with the AC charger, but with this convenient recharging case, you don't have to worry about your earpiece running out of power while you're on the go. Just place your earpiece in the case, and safely store it in your handbag or briefcase. When you're ready to use it again, it will be fully charged with enough power for up to five hours of talk time. The Discovery 925 is backed by a Plantronics 1-year limited warranty. What's in the Box Bluetooth earpiece, charging case, AC charger, USB cable, and three eartips (S, M, L).

The End of the Journey October 12, 2008 Living in CA I was finally forced to purchase a headset to conform to the law that went into effect on July 1, 2008. The search began around the end of May, beginning of June. I mostly needed it in my car, so my goal was to find one on which I could hear callers clearly and they could hear me clearly when I was driving at highway speeds. I would say my car is moderately noisy. So I started with some of the older Plantronics 300 series and found that either I couldn't hear my callers easily or they couldn't hear me well enough. Then I tried the more highly rated Voyager 520. I really liked it! When the phone rang I could quickly pick it up out of the console in my car and put in my ear. I found it quite comfortable and easy to put on. I could hear others easily and at first others seemed to hear me. However, after a few weeks people started complaining that I was cutting out, so sadly back to the store it went.
So on to the Jawbone series. At first only the Jawbone 1 was on the market. When I got it the first thing I noticed were the cheap and ill fitting earpieces. I was used to the Plantronics earpieces which I liked much better. People could hear me clearly on it, but even at top volume it was hard to hear them at highway speeds. By the time I returned these, the Jawbone 2 had just come out so I tried it. Alas, the earpieces were now leather and seemed to fit a little better, but still not great. Others could hear me quite well and I could hear them well at the top volume setting (although the sound was a little tinny) as long as the little voice sensor was in contact with the jaw (hence the name). However, I found that as I was talking the sensor tended to work its way off my jaw, greatly diminishing the quality of the connection. Because the on/off controls were on the outward side of the unit, when I would try to push on the earpiece to touch my jaw, often I would disconnect the call. Very disconcerting! Okay, so back to the store with this one.
Reluctantly, I went for the Plantronics Discovery 925. I thought I would have to jam it in my ear, so I had avoided trying it. Well it turns out that it fits fairly snugly onto the outer part of the ear. And lo and behold the sound was excellent on both ends! In fact sometimes the highest setting was TOO loud and had to go one notch down. The sound was rich with little or none of the tininess I experienced with the Jawbone. It was quick and easy to place in my ear and synced up quickly with my cell phone (Jawbone was much slower). It eventually passed the ultimate test for my purposes, which was talking with my wife on her 925 while both of us were in our cars driving on the highway.
I've been using the 925 for a few months now and give it hearty thumbs up. I'd like to give it 4.5 stars, but unfortunately that's not allowed. I'm only knocking it one-half star because in the few circumstances where I used it in the wind, I didn't seem to do a great job of canceling out the noise.
Excellent; no complaints October 11, 2008 This was my first Bluetooth headset, and I obsessed a little bit over the decision. Being the Mac guy that I am, I really wanted to want the one from Apple, but the reviews were just too sketchy. Although this one was a bit pricier, it has worked flawlessly for many long calls home. Charge capacity is more than adequate for my needs. Sound quality is as close to perfect/landline sound as I have ever had, particularly when I'm on the 3G network. LOVE this headset! Just get it....
CLEUNG6152 October 10, 2008 I've tried the 520, 650 and now the 925. I also tried the B&O and Jawbone2. So far I'd give 925 the best rating. Pro- clarity battery life (very long compare to others) comfort weight carry case is great with build-in charger easy to pair up to 2 phone Con- surrounding noise pick up(it does amplify your voice when you speak, but surruounding noise is still there)
Other than that, it is highly recommended. I have tried many headset, and this is by far the best at this price point.
Very comfortable October 8, 2008 I am no bluetooth headset expert, but I do really like this one. The outgoing call quality is not superb but it is good. What I really like about this headset is the fit of the earpiece. There's no earloop and since the headset sits inside your ear you can hear very easily with it, even in noisy environments. It's very comfortable inside your ear even for long periods of time and I've never had it fall out.
I also was able to pair it with both my cell phone and my computer and use it for a headset on both simultaneously, works great for that.
Best headset October 7, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I upgraded from the voyager 510. What a great purchase it has turned out to be. I've used it on my Treo and my iPhone.
The sound is great with a special note regarding the ever present wind noise in most headsets...or the lack of the wind noise I should say. I can now drive with my windows down and talk on the phone! It's noticeable clearer for the listener.
Another note is this headset is light! I can wear it all day comfortably(it has 3 different size ear pieces) and it stays put.
Great headset...would buy another today if I lost this one.
