Cheap plastic ruins superb product October 25, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
It's really too bad that this product has such a limited service life. The brittle plastic used breaks with normal usage in a very short time. What is unfortunate is that it is easily the best performing headset out there. My advice is to wait until they upgrade the quality of this product.
Good electronics, bad plastic, worse service April 3, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Very good audio performance--worth the money. But a few months of daily use and the thin plastic head-grabber part broke off so I could not use the headset. Customer service DOES NOT answer their phone. You have to leave a message. (Or you can call their office at 415-883-1500.) When I called I was told that they were familiar with the fact that the headsets break on a regular basis like mine did but that I should have been delicately removing the headset from my head by placing my two hands each on one side of my head and making sure that I exerted equilateral pressure while gently removing the headset straight off my head, etc., etc.--this from a company who advertises aviation and other rough uses of their equipment. I should not have to paper the cheap plastic in order to compensate for their design flaws and substandard materials. The guy said that he would replace my headset at no charge. All I had to do was send him my old one. After I sent him my old one, I waited . . . and waited . . . and waited. Over a month went by so I called the guy again and he told me that he knew how long I'd been waiting but that they are a small business and they send out new purchases before they take care of returns and, as they take time to check each unit that they ship, it takes their one guy a long time to get to the returns. I said that all he had to do was grab a headset, test it, and ship it to me. He said, "Yeah, but I'm not going to do that." And so I waited another two weeks. I finally got the replacement headset--same model with the same design flaw and cheap plastic. If you want a headset that you can put on and take off repeatedly without a lot of fuss (or breakage), you might think twice about getting this one even though its the best audio performance I've found for a telephone headset--when it isn't broken or awaiting shipment.
great headset but has one major problem May 18, 2007 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I've used the boom headsets for about 3 years now. I've used two different types (1.) the one featured on this page (2) a variation of this one with a wrap around head band. First let me say when using these headsets most people never know I'm on my cell. The quality of incoming & outgoing audio is excellent. I made a conference call in downtown NY and didn't have the 1st complaint of outside noise. You want find better audio quality. Now, the major problem, the cord is weak. They use a thin gauge and doesn't hold up very well or least for someone that travel a lot. I've emailed and talked with the company about this and they were nice enough and listened.
Overall, i would still recommend it for anyone that has to make business call traveling. Just treated it with kit gloves.
