Happy with purchase! January 8, 2009 Item just as description states! Easy installation! Only reason unable to give 5 star rating = you have to view screen straight on ... difficult to see picture from an angle view.
poor volume control, mounting screws too short January 8, 2009 The volume adjustment is terrible, you only have choices like volume 1,2,3, etc. Volume 1 is inaudible, 2 is low, 3 is loud, 4 is extremely loud, no need to go higher! Can't they make the volume increase in smaller amounts like every other product on the market with a digital volume control? I ended up putting tape over the speakers so I could use volume 3 (volume 2 was too low). I would have returned the unit if there were more products of this type available.
The mounting screws were too short to mount under my cabinets, and I couldn't find longer metric screws at the hardware store. I ended up mounting the TV to a shelf then mounting the shelf under the cabinet. Way too much trouble, couldn't they just include another set of longer screws? This would cost them like what, 8 cents more, sheesh!
The remote is very bland, but at least it comes with one...
As with most LCDs the viewing angle is limited, so if you adjust it for viewing across the room then you stand right in front of the screen, it loses much of the brightness due to the viewing angle.
On the positive side, the picture quality is decent and the swiveling screen is handy.
Good Under the counter TV for the price January 7, 2009 I purchased this unit to replace another undercounter TV,DVD,CD and computer ("Icebox")console which was very expensive. That unit broke down within two years. So, in looking for a replacement I didn't want to spend too much but I wanted a lot of features. After reading many reviews I bought this unit without expecting too much. But to my surprise it does a great job for the price. It's made out of light weight plastic, but it seems sturdy enough. My only two problems are that the screws they give you for the installation under the cabinet are too short. (having read other reviews that complain about the same thing, you would think the company would have fixed that by now.) The other downside is the speakers are weak and don't produce very good sound clarity. But for our purposes it was just fine. The picture quality is good and the unit itself is relatively easy to set up. I would recommend this product, it is a good under the cabinet unit for a relatively inexpensive price.
Coby Under the Counter 10.2-inch TV January 6, 2009 This small, under the counter TV is just fine for the purpose--a small TV that can fit in the kitchen and provide a bit of news or entertainment while doing chores or cooking. It was relatively easy to install, though we did need to get longer screws as several other reviewers noted. And you have to get used to pushing the "mode" button every time you want to go from radio to TV to DVD. Note that the DVD drawer only works when in DVD mode, which may have been the problem some reviewers mentioned about getting the DVD to work. This does not have the quality that a large screen TV with better speakers would have, but it suits its purpose quite nicely. And it should be hooked up to cable to avoid a somewhat fuzzy picture.
Great DVD Player and Radio/CD player for the money January 3, 2009 I wanted a music CD player for kitchen under the cabinet that could play mp3 CDs since I have a large collection of mp3 songs. But most players only have Radio and CD capabilities but no mp3. I found this one that can play mp3 CDs. I didn't care for the TV but bought it anyways. I was pleasantly surprised. I haven't hooked it as a TV but use it as a DVD Player. The screen is bright and great. the resolution is also very good. Though the volume is not all that great. The audio speakers and volume could have been much better. The remote control is OK. I would have liked it of a better build quality but it works.
mp3 capabilities: It played all the CDs that I had but does not have a random play capability. I couldn't figure out yet if it has a playlist capability either. I doubt it does. The sound quality is just OK. Not rich. The subtle tones are often lost but I couldn't care that much in the kitchen. I just wish that the volume was higher.
DVD features: It does not remember the place where we last left the DVD when you switch off the unit. When the player is switched on, it always starts the music CD or the DVD at the beginning. I hate this. It does remember whether we were listening to radio or watchding the DVD.
User Interface: Is not all that great. The clock is available only if the unit is turned on in radio/dvd mode. Not all the time as a kitchen clock. And it shows seconds. That is surprising for kitchen usage and confuses us. The display is really small and absolutely basic. Only clock and one other symbol.
Radio: Plays pretty well. I did connect the FM antenna but not the AM antenna since I don't listen to AM radio stations. The seek feature doesn't work very well. I had to spend a few minutes to find the stations that I like and store their frequencies.
Installation: I installed the unit in the kitchen myself. The unit came with a mounting guide that helped. I had to buy longer screws and get spacers since the screws that came with the unit were not long enough because of the way our kitchen cabinets are. It didn't take too long though.
