Sexiest case ever December 28, 2008 I was surprised how goddamn sexy this case looked after I put it on. I honestly prefer how it looks now compared to how it looked naked. It adds a bit of bulk and weight, but it's not that bad, unless you're the type with particularly tight pockets. However, it feels solid and secure in my hand, rather than precious and fragile, like it did before.
I've only had it for a couple of days, but from my experience so far, the case is very comfortable, and preserves the use of all the buttons and ports. I particularly like how the case includes it's own volume rocker to go on top of the iPhone's, making it easier to press. However, the silent/ringer switch is a bit recessed, but it doesn't take that much more effort to reach it, and might help to keep it from being switched unintentionally. The one thing I do see that could be an issue is dust gathering around the case's openings. However, I'm sure this is something that all cases have in common, and can be fixed by removing the case and wiping the dust off.
I'm also using the screen cover included with the case. As long as you make sure the screen is clean (I wiped it with a paper towel moistened with rubbing alcohol and then finished up with the included cloth) and make sure the cover is aligned properly, it's cinch to put on (do it slowly though). I didn't have any serious trouble with bubbles, so I didn't have a need for the included squeegie (which is just a plastic card). I found that the cover added a bit more friction, but didn't smudge as easily as the glass. It didn't effect the responsiveness of the touchscreen.
To sum up, I'm extremely satisfied with the case so far. I haven't dropped it yet (knock on wood), but the design of the case does seem like it would effectively absorb the shock of an impact. If you're looking for extra protection for your iPhone but still want it to look gorgeous, look no further.
Functional, sexy, and sleek. What's not to like? December 9, 2008 *This is my review from the Switcheasy Rebel Arctic color. I am purchasing the Black to customize my look by mix-and-match* I did hours of research to find the perfect balance of protection and design and the Switcheasy Rebel cases are the perfect solution!! I decided to get the arctic to show off the iphone underneath. The clear plastic "skeleton" over the softer compound is a ingenious idea! You get the protection of both worlds. The case is super easy to remove and attach and isn't bulky like other cases I've seen. The design is really sleek and sexy, I've already gotten a dozen inquries from other iphone users on where to buy this case! If you buy more than one you can get creative with the design by interchanging the outer shell with the inner shell. On top of all this you will also get quite a few extras like a screen protector, upright video holder, station adapter and microfiber cloth. Great design, great functionality, all at a great price!!
25$ insurance policy November 29, 2008 bought switcheasy rebel and neo at the same time for son and my iphone 3g's after exhaustive search of reviews...overall pleased with purchase. Please see seperate review of neo i posted, it does have some advantages. The rebel has two main parts, a hard rubber shell that allows ports to remain open while covering the volume and on-off switch for dust protection. The front of the case extends beyond the front of the phone, keeping the screen from touching a flat surface if placed screen down. It is high quality in feel and improves the look of the iphone 3g (the cheap plastic chrome is now concealed) you will quickly lose the seperate data port protector (could this have been attached some how?) the hard plastic part is already showing scratches. the case puts depth to the headphone jack requiring some whittling of certain accessories to help the plug fit (no big deal). extras are appreciated....has two clear screen covers incl, these are high quality and precisely fitted. has a adaptor that fits our ihome clock radio (charge while you listen with the case on), a little stand to set on desk to watch movies, cleaning cloth, etc (nice not to have to order these 50 cent items seperately with $4 shipping) overall worth the money, but if wobble doesn't bother you the neo is even nicer for a mere $5 more
Highly Recommended November 17, 2008 I'd highly recommend this product to anyone wanting superb protection for their iPhone 3G.
For those unfamiliar with the case's design, it's a hybrid soft/hard shell. I've yet to drop my iPhone (thankfully), but I'd wager this case will do a great job protecting it. The soft shell encases the entire backside of the iPhone and the hard shell latches onto the probable points of impact should the iPhone fall. In other words, your phone has two layers of (stylish, I might add) protection while leaving easy access to the phone's buttons. I'd also like to add that the design makes it easy to slip the iPhone in and out of your pocket unlike other cases and it doesn't add too much bulk.
The accessories that come with the case are worth mentioning as well. It comes with a dock protector that I use everyday and I've yet to have it fall out on its own. The universal dock adapter is great, so you can use it in any product that implements the universal dock design without requiring you to uninstall the case. It also includes a stand to keep your iPhone at an angle when watching videos, two separate screen protectors (I'm assuming should one wear out, you'll have another) and a squeegee that helps you in remove all the bubbles that're common with the installation of a screen protector.
I've only experienced one qualm with the case: when installing the hard shell, it lifted some portions of the protective film when it latched onto the phone. Not a major problem as the squeegee will help you fix that easily but I thought it was worth mentioning.
Overall, great product. Highly recommended to anyone. Should you buy it, I doubt you'll regret it.
great product! November 17, 2008 had this on my iphone for two months now. it makes the phone a tad bit bulkier but it's worth the protection. i dropped my phone on the concrete and it bounced a few times yet it's still working with no visible damage. i would buy again.
