The multichannel autoscanning, meanwhile, instinctively searches for the frequency with the least interference, so you don't have to suffer through a static-filled conversation. Thanks to the phone's call waiting/caller ID compatibility--which requires a subscription to a fee-based phone company service--and caller ID memory, you'll know the name and number of the last 50 callers, even if you're currently talking to someone else. The handset's three-line, multifunction LCD, meanwhile, lets you see all caller ID information without scrolling, while the backlighting aids visibility in low-light situations. Another nice bonus is the phone directory, which stores an additional 50 names and numbers of your favorite friends, family members, and pizza joints. Plus, thanks to the display-and-dial feature, you can scroll through either the phone directory or the caller ID list and dial the selected number simply by pressing talk.
