Amazon.com AT&T's 1855 Speakerphone with Digital Answering System and Caller ID is designed for the customer who needs a basic corded phone with enhanced features. The three-line LCD allows you to view the name, number, time and date of incoming calls at a glance, even those on Call Waiting. Caller ID stores the name, number, time and date of up to 50 incoming calls, whether or not the phone is answered. Numbers stored in Caller ID history can be dialed directly. The speakerphone frees your hands for more important tasks, and the one-touch redial button provides you with a convenient way to quickly call someone back after you've hung up. A digital answering system is built into the telephone, reducing clutter on your desktop. Because operation is fully digital, messages are stored without the use of tapes or other moving parts that can wear out. Access your messages when you are away from home with the remote functions at your disposal from any touch-tone phone. The Volume control lets you customize the proper audio levels, and the Mute button gives you instant privacy when someone's on the line. The phone is wall mountable to help save space.

ADEQUATE FOR MY USE November 10, 2008 THE TELEPHONE IS FINE FOR MY NEEDS. IT IS A GOOD BASIC PHONE WITH MOST OF THE FEATURES I NEED. HOWEVER, THAT BEING SAID, IT IS NOT SUBSTANTIAL AND I DO EXPECT THAT I WILL HAVE TO REPLACE SOONER THAN LATER.
so so September 12, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a simple home answering machine. It is made by a company other than AT&T but has paid to use the AT&T logo.
Some glaring defects are the lack of a back lit display and the dismal audio quality on the speaker output.
There is only one outgoing message available. My old AT&T model had three choices, one of which was played only to a user specified calling number. This was good for telling pesky telemarketers to go away.
There is no battery backup so you have to reset the clock after each power interruption.
You have to set the clock on the hour because there is no way to enter the minutes. It assumes you set the clock on the hour and sets the minutes to zero.
I literally bashed it with my fist September 3, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This telephone is terrible. The buttons - usually the '2'- would often stick, even though they're just electronic contacts, resulting in a contant squeal of the tone while it dialed one digit 10 times. The message retrieval would also often become hung - one could not listen to or delete the messages. After two years of putting up with it, the last time it did this to me I just put my fist through it and threw it away.
AT&T should be embarassed to have their name on this telephone.
AT&T Speaker Phone August 6, 2008 This is a great telephone but I would like for the caller ID to light up. It is a good price for the quality of the phone.
Pretty good phone May 28, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Overall, this phone is pretty good except they could have picked better ringtone choices and make the ringer louder.
