great clock radio May 12, 2008 The batteries actually keep the time when its unpluged! You don't loose the alarm or clock settings when the power goes out. Easy to set & tune to a station with the digital no. The best clock radio I've had.
works well February 19, 2008 Like the large but unobtrusive letters, radio is the usual alarm clock quality but I use the low intensity (right for me) beep alarm. Ordered one more for my kid's room. Can't be beat for basic alarm with large letters.
Looks good, but that's about it. February 12, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
So I liked the look & feel of the clock. The digital version of an analog tuner worked ok (though some stations seemed to get tuned in overlapping other stations). The displays were still too bright for the bedroom (I like it dark at night). The "no need to set the time" feature is NOT some Atomic clock automatically setting feature. It's marketing's way of saying "we've got batteries that save the time and we set the clocks before they left the factory." With both clocks, the time they had set was significantly off (not correctable with the daylight & time zone settings). I reset the clocks without problem though. The thing that eventually made me throw in the towel was that the speaking in one of the two clocks I bought always made a very audible staticy crackling noise. I even unplugged the clock and it continued to make the noise until I pulled the batteries. Shipped it back to Amazon and I'll try some other clocks sometime. Too bad though, because with the way the clock looked, and the list of features I'd have given it 5 stars if it had executed on them.
RCA alarm clock January 14, 2008 I was looking for a large display lock for my bedroom (to see at night) and I looked at a lot of different clocks and decided on the RCA for price alone (I could return it if not acceptable). I was very satisfied with the display and the looks of this clock. The other features are an added bonus! But the most amazing part is the price. It is a steal. You can pay three to four times the price for an inferior product. It is a pleasure to refer this product to anyone wanting an alarm clock with a large digital display.

Purchased the RCA model Rp5420 on 11/17/07. The first thing I noticed was that the thing did NOT automatically know what time it was, in spite of the claim on the box, and the batteries that came with it were DOA. I put new batteries in it, but noticed that no matter where in the house I plugged it in, there was a static type crackling noise constantly emitting from the speaker that would not shut off no matter what I did.
I figured it would be my luck that it would catch fire or something went I left for work if I kept it, so I will be returning it today for something else.
