5 out of 5 stars Emerson PD5203 Portable is a good value   December 12, 2007

A nice little compact unit with radio, cassette and CD playback capabilities. Not a lot of power, but decent enough sound.

2 out of 5 stars Picks up a lot of static!   December 11, 2007

Getting a lot of static interference if I leave it on the CD setting for too long. The problem can be solved by grounding the metal connectors on the volume dial (need to open it up). This shouldn't happen with a company like Emerson. Piece of Chinese junk!

Mine is six months old now and only played once or twice a week. The top broke off the cd player last night. The display is not lit up at all. The sound is okay for the price but it has stopped playing cd's about half way through their play. I was here looking for a new one when I saw this and thought I should review it.

5 out of 5 stars Incredibly tough for the price   November 25, 2007

I bought this item two Christmases ago for my kids. It was left outside in the (pouring)rain once, and to my surprise it worked again once it dried. The sound is good, my kids (now 11 and 8)used it almost daily for almost two years. My son has been rough with it, and my 1 year old loves to open and close the lid:the lid has finally come off. I was able to fix it many times, and it still plays CDs. For $25 it has stood up to plenty of abuse, and now that it is time to get a new one (even though it still works, the lids doesn't pop up anymore)I am very tempted to buy the same one again.
