4 out of 5 stars Very good product for the price   September 27, 2008
This is the first set of noise canceling headphones that i have owned. I spent a long time researching which headphones would be the best between 50 and 75 dollars. Sony had a nice set but there were a lot of complaints about a loud humming sound when the noise canceling was turned on, pretty much all the different headphones i looked at had similar reviews. I have had these headphones for a couple days now and there is a very very faint humming noise when music is not being played through the headphones, other than that they have a very nice sound and are pretty comfortable. For only paying 75$ for these headphones i think they are definitely worth it. I will be traveling in India soon so I guess that will really test how good they are, but i am confident they will perform great.

5 out of 5 stars Great Product!   September 3, 2008

I am using them right now and I can hear almost nothing. I got them a couple weeks ago and I have used them a lot. They are very comfortable and I can wear them for quite a while and not have to take them off because of discomfort. I also love the case for them, there is an attachment for every kind of headphone jack. I would recommend that you should take extra batteries if you are taking them on a long trip because they are big time battery hogs. Overall I think these are the best pair I have ever owned for the price.

5 out of 5 stars Excellence in Noise Canceling Headphones   August 11, 2008

The Philips SHN9500 Active Noise Canceling Headphones is an excellent piece of gear that delivers what it advertises- a noise reduction device at an incredible price. Not only that but the music range is excellent too with the lows sounding like lows and the highs like highs as you'd expect from wall speakers. The quality and finish of the headphones is without equal and the ear cushions are very comfortable. This makes them a wonder addition to the entertainment center when no one wants to hear your favorite music. I highly recommend them for anyone who is thinking about noise canceling headphones on a budget as I've found them to be superior to the Bose.

1 out of 5 stars Got my money back   August 7, 2008

I have never had experience with noise canceling headphones before. After all the wonderful reviews about this product, I decided to try it. It was okay at canceling the noise out but as soon as I plugged my DVR or my i-Pod in, static city! All I heard was static! What poor quality! Who wants to listen to static during their traveling. I am personally trying to cut out all that noise. I would give this a zero rating and I got my money back withing 2 hours!

4 out of 5 stars Worth the price   July 14, 2008
I have never used noise canceling headphone before so i am only biased against regular headphones. I would say these are better than any other set I have owned. the over the ear fit is nice, although they seem a little tight. The padding for the top of the head is really nice. The cord is detachable, which is nice if you want a longer one you can buy your own.

As for the noise canceling function. if your not actually listening to anything, you can hear it. For me it kinda sounds like a pulsing hum. I sit 4 feet away from a wall mounted air conditioning unit. Even with it turned on, i can still hear the AC unit in the background, just not as much. These only reduce the noise by 85%.

even though these are not perfect, they are still better than any pair on normal headphone i have had. They are definitely worth the price.
