I bought this for recording phone interviews with my Olympus VN-4100PC digital voice recorder (only after participants have given informed consent, of course). It's very easy to use--just plug it into the voice recorder and put the earpiece in your ear. The resulting recordings are nice and clear and the earpiece doesn't impede my ability to hear the conversation.

I bought this to accompany the Olympus DS-30 Digital Voice Recorder, hoping to record phone interviews with family members. I should have read the fine print, because I probably would have figured out what it was, and how it works. It does not plug directly into the phone (as I had somehow assumed), but rather it's an earbud with a tiny lav mic. So, you place the bud in your ear, and hold the phone up to that ear so it can record everything it picks up from the phone earpiece. This is not the most comfy way to have a phone conversation, but there is an upside... I had also wanted a lav mic, and now I realize I won't need to make another purchase for an additional accessory, as this will work fine (once I figure out how to attach it to a piece of clothing [it does not come with a clip]). Overall, it's not what I had expected, yet will still be useful to me.
telephone recording microphone April 12, 2008
The purchase was easy and delivery on time as advertised. The item arrived in perfect condition and works just as advertised. The only problem was the job for which I purchased the microphone was cancelled and I did not get to use it that way. However, when I tested the microphone and recorder together to validate the capablity I was happily impressed. Good item, good price, and good transaction all around.

The picup sits in your ear. If you can hear it, it records well. Marked it down to 4 stars because the wire is very thin and tangles easily. It appears sturdy enough, however.

This product works as described. It even worked with my blue tooth hands free. I can easily document both sides of a telephone call comfortably and hands free. I recommend getting this if you have those needs. All recording adjustments are done through your Olympus recorder. I am 100% satisfied with its performance. My needs are not high tech, but it is the best bang for the buck.
