Great add-on: Archos 604 Stand Case May 14, 2007 I travel with the Archos 604 and this add-on is a great purchase because it hugs the unit and keeps it safe from scratches and damage. Well worth the price.
Does what it says--mostly May 12, 2007 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
The first thing to remember is that you REALLY need some kind of case for the Archos 604, given that it only comes with a cheap cloth bag that might protect it from scratches, but would do nothing to prevent damage from impact. That said, there aren't that many options. The Noreve case is really classy, but it sells for twice the amount this one does, and so I leave it to the reader's discretion whether it's worth the extra expense.
This case has received criticism for the fact that it doesn't function well as a stand for the Archos 604. That criticism is valid, up to a point. If you're placing the unit on a service that is level with your eye--say a car's dash--it works fine. If you are resting it on a surface that is lower than eye level (which, to be honest, is most of the time), then you're going to want to remove it from the case and use the built in kickstand.
I do wish they had made it possible to attach the unit to its power supply without removing it from the case. Using the attached belt clip is fine if you're doing so around the house, but out in public it's going to look a bit geeky.
All in all, I'd say this is a necessary accessory for anyone who owns an Archos 604, and wants to protect that gorgeous screen.
What was this case designed for? March 4, 2007 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
I've had the case for almost a week and I fail to see its intented purpose.
The fastener is NOT strong enough to hold the back-flap in place to be used as a stand.
The side cover hides the speaker making it even harder to listen without headphones.
There is NO place to hold the stylus (the cover that comes with the 604 has it) So you have to find somewhere else to keep the stylus if you plan to use the 604 to surf the web.
In my opinion the only purpose of this case is that it was designed to look like a purse. Appealing to the female techie clients.
