I bought the base to listen to music at work on AC power. Yes, I could have just used my AC adapter, but I like the comfort of the wireless remote (since I use wireless, bluetooth phones), the fact that the unit stands up so I can see what I am listen to, and the general good looks of the unit. Is it necessary, no. But am I glad I bought it: yes.

This little adapter is great. It's nice and compact and fits basically anywhere. Setup is simple and quick. The only thing I've found is that the remote could have been made better. The signal doesn't always go through the first time. I would reccomend leaving your backlight on always while using the base station. And I also agree that a scroll option would've have been nice. AND, recharging the remote would've been a big improvement. But otherwise, it's awesome. There aren't too many products out there for the "non-iPod" mp3 players, so, this is defenitely a great product.

overall I'd have to say that i still like this product, it's the only one so far that comes with a remote, but the lack of scroll wheel use on the remote, the volume is a little sensitive, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't
just some ideas, it would have been cool if they had put a scroll wheel on the remote that acted as the players.
this one is far off, but whenever you put the remote back in the stand it could charge it, so you don't have to replace those small batteries
now, one thing i don't like is that you don't know what song is playing when your not looking at the screen or are too far away to see it
but as i said i'm still content with this product, maybe they could release an improved version

I agree with the other reviews regarding the ease of use and the sound. Both my fiance' and I have Sansa E-200's and we love being able to quickly and easily to our home stereo system. The remote, while it can't do everything, is a welcome addition as well.
