 Excellent MP3 player April 3, 2008
Easy to use, easy to upload, and the system can use whatever music program you prefer to manage external devices (plus Creative provides its own music manager). I purely us this for MP3s and the radio while I work out, so I cannot comment on the video or picture functions, nor the recorder function. The buttons are easy to use, and the lock-out feature is an immense help. The size is perfect to easily handle, neither too large or small. The battery seems to last forever! There are a decent number of accessories for this MP3 player, at least for what I've needed. The only downside is the low quality headphones that comes with the player.
I've owned two of these now, and am currently on my third, and purchased as gifts an additional three, so I'd say I put my money where my mouth is. I highly recommend it
 Nice for the price March 30, 2008
Very convenient player at an inexpensive price. I use it mostly for audio books and appreciate both the super fast forward and bookmarks. Instructions for use are noteworthy for the paucity of information. Charging by usb connection is also inconvenient.
 Not my favorite March 30, 2008
After a few weeks of using this player because my old 1 GB Zen Micro finally died (after 2 years of daily use and being dropped several times), I find I truly prefer the old one for many reasons.
1. The power button is difficult to feel and therefore use by touch - you almost have to be looking at it to make sure its been moved to the correct position. The same goes for the 5-way toggle. My thumb must be too big.
2. I use this for audiobooks and have found that if I pause the book and it times out and shuts off, I lose my place and it automatically goes back to the beginning. Verrry inconvenient. If I shut if off without pausing, I don't lose my place. I haven't updated the firmware yet, so the newest version may have resolved this.
3. I hate the internal battery. I used rechargeable AAAs with my Zen Nano and always carried an extra, so if the battery died while I was at work or away from home, I could just switch it. I had 8 numbered batteries and charged 4 at a time, so I could charge them ahead of time and use them in sequence. Now if the battery dies, I have to let the thing charge for several hours before I can use it again. If I want to be able to recharge it away from a computer, I have to buy adapters and remember to carry them around as well.
Granted, it's more stylish than the basic flash-drive type of the Zen Nano, but my next Zen will definitely be a Nano. This one will probably become a gift to a kid. It may be great for music, but I absolutely do not recommend it for audio books.

This zen is a sleek awesome device with things like video and picture it totally out ranks the Ipod. When I ordered it I thought it would break if I dropped but I did drop it and nothing happened. It works on every type of music and sounds great. I especially like to listen to led zeppelin and it sounds like you're at a concert. All my friends have one and im glad I bought this and the price is great so if you want something cheap and awesome buy this zen.
The only down side is that sometimes while playing a video it freeze's. But that's the only bad thing.
IPOD < ZEN 5 PLUS March 19, 2008
Zen 5 plus is a great mp3 player. It is easy to understand, I can't vouch for customer service because it DOES NOT BREAK. I had an ILO 1 gig. The thing:
1.) Ate batteries
2.) Would not play songs in its memory
3.) Buttons would break
4.) The recorder function became unoperable
Zen 5 vs. IPOD is an easy choice. Who needs Itunes, when you can download music from Amazon and put it on your Zen 5? No monthly fees, no tears, get music you want, not music you don't want but pay for. Best of all, you can keep all of it in mp3 format!
In addition to all that it also acts like a jump drive. Could you ask for more?
Zen 5 is the way to go!
