i bought this right before thanksgiving for 180. i've been in the market of an audio player for a while: after the iphone came out i waited for the "iphone w/o the phone" to come out. i didn't think the price of the ipod touch was worth it but i wanted a flash memory based player, so i went for the nano.
i first thought it might be too small, but it's a great size and fits well in the hand. it has a pretty good battery life. it's also easy to use: no installing, just plug-and-play.
Problem w/ large photo files December 12, 2007 I think Apple finally made the IPOD nano too small. It may be great for kids or people with small hand, but I would have liked it with a little more weight. Also photos with large resolutions takes a long time to load and a few times the nano locked up ( you can feel the heat on the back of the gadget). If you are using it for music then its great as you expect an IPOD to be.
Nice product, but December 12, 2007 The nano is a very nice improvement over my first generation iPod (which had a terrible battery; never lasted more than two hours per charge). I'd rate it a 5 for design and utility, except for my shopping experience. The 4GB nano comes in any color you'd like, as long as you like silver. What would it have cost Apple to offer more colors? Very little, if anything. But, like many manufacturers, offering color options only at a higher price point is a not very subtle way of pushing you to open your wallet wider.
The 4 GB is entirely adequate for my use in jogging; I never watch video with it.
Apple Nano a nono December 11, 2007 16 out of 37 found this review helpful
Well I purchased a Crapple Nano 3g and fully expected it to work with my sonic impact v55 which I love, but for some unknown reason Crapple decided to make video out proprietary. Apple is the only firm I have ever found to sink this low. I have tons of video equipment including projectors, cameras, computers, DVD players and you name it, none of them rquire you to use their cables. Why put all that effort into a great design only to force you to tether it with an ugly cable instead of simply docking it with it's convenient port. This could be the start of the ipod downfall...if I had the money I'd jump on this one and start a company called "Orange" and give the people a beautiful design and an interface compatible with industry standards. Who says you can't compare Apples with Oranges?
Love the Nano December 11, 2007 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I bought the new Nano for my 9 yr old son after he begged and begged for one to listen to music on the hour long bus ride to School and back everyday. I was very skeptical about making the purchase-a) that is would be too difficult for him to manage and b) that he would lose it. I was shocked to discover he is a whiz with it. I actually have no problem navigating and downloading music for him- I choose what goes on it for him. He loves it and takes extremely good care of it. I am very pleased with the ease of use as well. I will by another one later on for myself or my husband...
