Great recorder with quality recording capability December 8, 2007 20 out of 23 found this review helpful
The usual Sony product quality and packaged in a small form factor with easy to understand buttons. Since I use mine at night and in dark situations quite a bit, this is important. I like how I can identify the buttons by shape without looking and the audio tone that precedes play, stop and record events.
Downloads to computer are a snap and I don't see a lot of problems with the recording to CD since any freeware audio program can tap into the audio stream while playing the output and you can do what you want from there.
Great product - a good buy.

Records well and is easy to use December 2, 2007 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
I am using this product for research purposes and so far it has worked very well. I have not analyzed the interviews it has produced, but from the reviews I have done they seemed to be pretty clear.
Wonderful tool for court proceedings November 26, 2007 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I am a litigation lawyer and I often have problems with accuracy of transcription of court proceedings made by local court stenographers. While English is the official court language in the Philippines, not all stenographers have the proficiency of a first language speaker. The ICD-P520 digital voice recorder has more than enough capacity to record even the longest court sessions which I download to my notebook for reference when correcting written transcripts and reviewing testimony. It is also quick, easy and convenient to make copies of the proceedings in MP3 format for my secretary and even the court stenographer. Clarity is very good but I would recommend an external omnidirectional microphone to pick up more detail. What I often use is a small bi-directional stereo microphone from a Walkman cassette recorder.
Nice recorder November 26, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Two drawbacks: 1. Battery Life. For a pair of fully charged AAA battery, 20~24 hours continues recording will drain out the battery.
2. USB connection. I would like to see a Mass Storage Drive. So I can access the recordings easily. But you need a special software to access the recording...
