Creative lives up to its name again June 15, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is THE secondary mp3 player to own. Even without a screen, it is easy to navigate the +hundred songs it stores because of the dedicated button on the top of it that skips from folder to folder.
It is perfect for operating in the car while I am driving, as I can flip through songs/albums easily without taking my eyes off the road. It is also great for taking on a jog or to the gym.
But the one reason I am writing this review is because today I lost the tiny USB cord that charges and transfers songs. It's only two inches long and easy to misplace. I realized I would have to order a new one, and cursed those greedy pigs at Creative for making a part so easy to misplace. Then it dawned on me that, unlike every other gadget in my house, this one does not use a proprietary format. Any standard USB 2.0 cord from a camera or other peripheral is compatible with this player! At that moment, I felt like Creative was looking out for me. They thought I might lose that tiny little cord, and they had my back. Thank you Creative.
Junk. June 5, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I see from other reviews that it might just be the quality of the pink one (as they say, get the black one? or just save the extra for the iPod Shuffle). Anyways, it worked nicely just about long enough for the general warranty to run out. Since then it's had major issues with the connection between the earbud jack and the player. Sometimes pressing it in *really* hard helps. Sometimes it needs to be at a certain angle. My kid sister had a different brand of cheap mp3 player for a while and experienced similar problems.
Also, the lowest volume setting is still kinda loud in a totally silent environment. I found this ironic considering the rabid "protect your ears" warnings that came with the documentation. And when you turn it down beyond the lowest setting, the sound cuts out completely, which can be confusing the first time it happens.
Moral of the story: you get what you pay for. Save for something nicer. Or at the very least, don't get this color.
Great low-end light-weight product June 2, 2008 I am very happy with this product. I saw some of the poor reviews complained about the controls not offering enough flexibility, or the poor earphones. These are true, but what do you want for $40? Some complained about battery life, and I have had NO problem with the batteries. I get at least 8-10 hours out of each charge.
The controls ARE a bit simiplistic, but I use this for listening to tunes while working out, and do not require a lot of control. If I wanted more control (which comes with more weight and size), I would've bought a fancier unit!
This is a great little unit. It weighs almost nothing, sounds good, and plays files in order with little difficulty. If you need more than that, look at the Zen Stone Plus, perhaps.
Would be nice if they had a belt-clip accessory for it though....
good. May 23, 2008 I actually bought this MP3 for temporary usage but to my surprise, this product was great! It was very compact and I used to take it with me everywhere. The sound was great but the earphones stopped working after a couple of months. The battery life was not so great either. Unfortunately eight months after purchasing it, the player would not turn on. It would charge but would not turn on. It also would not let me access the music that I had put on it. But overall I think this is a good player and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a simple and compact player with great sound.
1 GB MP3 May 19, 2008 Simple to use, and the inexpensive price on this Creative Zen trumps the cost that is added to other manufacturers who mass advertise to sell their product. This internal battery 1 GB MPS is perfect for my active lifestyle. I take it everywhere. The software is simple - like drag and drop, easy to change tracks. I'm very happy -
