Sangean Clock Radio April 1, 2008 I'm very happy with the Sangean alarm clock -- its features are great. I purchased this model so that I would not have to reset the clock every time there was a power failure -- all I do is hold a button down to reset -- its great.
Great Clock Radio March 23, 2008 I would've given this a 5 start review except for the 5 minute snooze (who snoozes for 5 minutes?). I love the atomic clock feature which automatically adjusted for daylight savings. Display is too bright can be adjusted on the bottom of the unit. Radio stations come in strong and being able to set the alarm for different days and different times is the best feature ever. If you have an alternating schedule in the mornings, this is the clock for you.
Sangean atomic clock/radio February 25, 2008 Sangean RCR-22 AM/FM Atomic Clock Radio
Bought my wife one last year; liked it so well I bought one for myself. Little difficult to program, but once I get used to it I'll probably like it even better. I'm a stickler about a clock or watch showing the correct time, so the atomics are right down my alley.
Bull's Eye ...almost February 21, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have a running joke with my wife about clock radios -- I seem to feel the need to change mine every year or so because I get frustrated with them for various reasons. Too bright (sony), poor reception (Timex), too complicated to set up (Sony again)...
Enter the Sangean RCR22. So far it's the best CR I've ever owned. The cool blue display can be dimmed to virtually invisible, but pops back to bright mode for a few seconds when you're actually using the controls. I usually tune to AM news/talk radio- and the tuner on the Sangean is by far the best I've had in a clock radio. In NC, I was able to get stations from NYC, Chicago, and Pittsburgh last night. My old Timex barely got some of the weaker local stations. Setting the alarms and the desired days of the week couldn't have been much easier.
I do have a few minor quibbles:
a. The size of the clock's digits could be a little larger. It seems a bit lost on the display.
b. Other clock radios (Timex I think) have a cool 'sleep timer' feature that this one lacks. If you like to fall asleep with the radio playing, but also wake to the radio instead of the alarm, the Timex let me reduce the sleep timer radio volume to a modest level, but still allowed the alarm radio volume to be more substantial. Sangean would do well to add that feature.
All in all I'm happy with the Sangean... great reception, easy to set up, and good dimming features-- it gets the big issues right!
Received two defective units February 17, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I ordered this unit twice, both times the radio was defective.
Both units were able to synch up with the atomic time with no problem, even during the day (when most other atomic clocks won't).
But the first unit was unable to receive any radio stations at all, no matter how much I adjusted the antenna and power cord.
The second unit received AM stations fine, but was unable to receive any FM stations at all, again with attempts to adjust antenna and power cord.
It may be that I live only a half mile from a radio tower, and that the units are being overpowered by it. However, I have several other radios in the house that have no problems at all.
The design of this radio is very good, but the quality control seems to be lacking.
