There is a different case for 80 and 160 GB units, they don't fit in this one as you can tell by the idiots who bought this one for the bigger cap units and gave this one a bad review. The 80 and 160GB units are thicker and have a shorter battery life. I have one of thicker cases and my Archos 80 GB fits perfectly. The Amazon description is wrong on compatibility. It fails as a stand, and if you want to charge while it's in the case, you better get some scissors. I like it for protection and it's a huge improvement over the one that is shipped with the unit.

I concur with prior reviews asserting the poor fit of the stand case with the player. It takes quite awhile for me to tuck the player under that annoying top lip, and it does fall out of the case way too easily when unbuttoned. However, my biggest problem with this case is the the type and quality of the leather. Unlike the soft, thin leather of the AV500 case which only slightly increased it's size, the 605 case is thick and stiff. It adds loads of protection (when it stays in), but adds considerable heft, bulk and weight, greatly reducing portability convenience. I carry my player everywhere so I actually find I prefer the cheap nylon case that comes with the player.

I bought this case to go along with Archos 605 160GB. The case looks ok, but thats the only positive remark. Player does not fit well inside, as the left corner of the case is too high and pushes the raised part of the player below power button out. I tried to push player in. It doesn't stay because the side ridge is elastic and pushes the player out. Then there is a really horrible design flaw: when case flap is closed, it presses against the play/stop button and stops the playback of music. And there is no place to put stylus. Why would a player that comes with a stylus, not have a place to put it in? and the same applies to the case.
I'm sending it back to amazon for refund and buying a Noreve case.

Cheap quality leather. Its those generic barely passable grade leather. Stitching is shoddy.
Worse part is that it is not compatible with the 30gig model even though the description says it does. The hole on the side cannot possibly line up with the archos' headphone outlet. Plus for the 30 gig model its an akward looking fit. Kind of like making a small child wear xxl clothing. The stand doesn't work very well. I prefer the cheap case that came with the 605.

If I had to rate this based on looks, I would give it 5 stars but this case has problems. First, it does not hold the unit securely. It could easily fall out and this is why it gets 2 stars. It's hard to believe that Archos approved this design. Second, in order to make it a stand, you flip the cover over and snap it in place. The snap does not work. I suspect this part is a defect. The only hole it has is for the headphone so you cannot charge this with the cover on.
I almost returned this but I decided to keep it because it is good for protecting the unit in my backpack or purse and I like the way it looks. However, I have to be careful knowing that it could easily fall out when opened.
