Good value for money! - EDITED - Beware of samsung service May 4, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have edited my existing review after my latest experiences..
I am not the only one in the same boat after searching through the internet. Samsung after-sales service is literally in stone-age or non-existent. You would need to have all the luck in your world on your side to get this serviced..
But hey, wait a second we are talking about how the product itself fares.. Not samsung.. The product is a one helluva player as long as it works.. The problem is, having a made in china tag, it has been quite prone to turning faulty.. And once it happens.. let me tell you.. you are 100% S-C-R-E-W-E-D.
The first place i went to look out for help was the samsung website of course.. They told me to register the product first and create a login id.. I have been trying that for a month now.. No success.. I live in India and i bought this @ amazon when i was in USA. I called the local samsung head office.. All the rep. could say was.. P2.. is that a mobile phone? I never even heard of that model..
Okay.. since i have the US warranty, if i go to US again, i can replace it right?? I logon to samsung site again and check out the service centers in US.. There is one in NJ, New York.. So, if you live anywhere else in US.. bad luck buddy..
Next i go to the P2 support forums.. And to my surprise, there are other people like me, who are in US who have managed to ship it to customer support.. Problems range from..
- You need to spend an entire hour to get access to a CSE even after which you cannot be guaranteed of a response.
- The shipment was not received at the customer support center even though UPS says that it was delivered
- The support center is out of stock for 8 GB models and cannot replace it for a couple of months until they get the next shipment
I now actually need to shift my residence to USA if i need to have any hope of getting this serviced..
Guess i should have heeded my granny's advice and got that ipod touch instead
What a great mp3 player... April 27, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I recently bought this mp3 player and I love it! I wanted an mp3 player that could do videos, music, and pictures, so I got online and this one really stood out. According to all the reviews the video is amazing (very true), its a great player (true), and many other things. I haven't found anything really wrong with the player. It's easy to use, I didn't have a problem with the touch screen, and it comes with software which makes songs, videos, etc. easy to put on. I did read that people had problems putting videos on the player, I didn't. I simply used 1, 2, 3 movies to PSP and it worked fine. Later when I was putting the videos on using the samsung software all I had to do was update it and where it asked for the quality of the video I had to click "convert the video" and then it was on the player. It does take a while for the videos to be put on the player. The music quality is great the one thing I DO NOT LIKE is I had to go in and manually put in all the album art (which took a long time). I had to save the picture to my computer and then put it on the player, which took a while, but I think it was worth it. so if you are looking for a good mp3 player with new technology (such as bluetooth...I have not yet used bluetooth yet though) I highly recommended this one. I shopped around and although this one is a bit pricy, it is a good one and defintly better than an Ipod (which I am totally against)! I would recommend updating the player, it's not hard, just go to the samsung website and go from there, it gives the player more features. And I would like to say I know there will be a 16 gb version on the market soon, if not now (it is already available in Canada). So I hope this review is helpful I would strongly recommend the player to anyone, it's great and I have not come across any problems with it!
Excited April 26, 2008 Samsung P2 I purchase was a birthday gift; I was very please with the packaging of my P2. The person who received this gift was very happy and excited with the thin appearance, the black color, and the wide screen. All of the attachments were included, the earphones were comfortable for your ear. I'm happy that their are happy with the Samsung P2 and the many feature it offer such as bluetooth capabilities, video and music downloads and the slick thin look. The Samsung P2 is thin enough to put anywhere you want. Would love for someone to get a Gift like this for me.
Excellent choice considering EVERYTHING!! April 4, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I did a LOT of research about this product and other mp3 players in the same price range...here are the things I found along with my own use for two weeks about this product:-
-The most important is the sound quality. It is REALLY good. I compared it with an ipod of my roommates', I believe the Samsung P2 was better. Although, I might be biased since I own the P2, but they are really close. What sets it aside is the DNSE, which allows you to listen to music the way you want( bass heavy etc). The only problem I found was when I put the volume at "2" along with a slow song there is a slight background noise that you can hear... but since I never listen to music at that low a volume its not a problem for me.
-The user interface is spectacular, no doubt.I won't compare it with ipod touch, since, it was out of my price range but they are close competitors. I won't argue with people who say that ipod touch is better, because I had very little experience with an ipod touch.
-The video quality is spectacular. NO ONE can deny that fact. No problems with the video..you can watch whole movies in this.
Overall, this is a spectacular product. Though I did run in a problem. It hangs in a certain place repeatedly. I talked to samsung, they were really helpful. Im returning the P2 for repairs, they paid for the shipping, which I liked. Its just a software malfunction, I believe...I'll update my review once I get it back.
All around player March 29, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Well first off i had it about 4 mounts and i think samsung makes some really great products in all area's but this little player is great and a little slimmer than the itouch but most of all is the bluetooth was my main reason for buy. Also i have dropped this twice from about 4 to 5 feet with no problems. The only bad thing is the strict spec's of audio and vidio meaning you just cant throw any old video or audio format on it but the supplied media program takes care of that. This is a great product i have no regrets and would buy again without a second thought
