| Customer Reviews:
Did Not Work For Me December 14, 2008 Based on several of the other reviews, I wasn't sure how this would work for me. I took a chance, but unfortunately, it didn't work that well so I ended up returning it - Amazon has a great return policy and promptly refunded my money. I was able to find a station that gave me decent results on way to and from work, but other than that, I would always have to try and find another station if I was in a different part of town. My car is an older model (2002) and has a casette deck. I remembered that I had one of those old portable CD player car kits that has a headphone jack hooked in to a cassette tape that allows you to play the CD player through the cassette deck. I tried it with my Zune and it works perfectly!
its ok December 13, 2008 wouldn't recommend it unless you absolutely need to use it, like i do. it frequently gets interference and you have to change the station its broadcasting to, pretty annoying.
Question rather than review December 13, 2008 I have a theory and wondered if some of you folk could help with the research. Would people please indicate what type of car/radio antenna they have? I wonder if newer cars with integrated antennae are getting better signal from this, which is placed in the interior, while older cars with external antannae may not be getting enough signal. Anyone?
Mileage may vary? Ok - for me, product doesn't work December 8, 2008 Looks like people have wildly varying experiences with this -- whether it works or not seems to depend on where you live, and whether there might be any available radio band on which to use it.
So, in the interest of providing a useful review: I tried this out in the Los Angeles area, specifically on the 170 and 101 freeways from Northridge to Hollywood. It doesn't work in a fashion that could be reasonable to anybody. Static, drop outs, mixes with the radio bands to either side, it just simply is terrible.
I tried all the various methods of tweaking it to make it work, tuning before turning on the radio etc, but no go. I didn't have to shake my zune like a nut or swing it around like an ape or whatever that guy said, it is terrible right out of the box.
Ok, that said, the product is well put together, attractive and solid in its materials and construction. Not the fault of Zune or Microsoft, but the technology is just not there. I don't think iPod ones work any better.
So, bottom line, in Los Angeles, forget it.
Horrible Product; Don't waste your time December 1, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've never written a customer review about a product, but I must warn others to stay away; this product will create pure frustration. The Zune car adapter is absolutely horrible. I read the instructions and other Amazon customer reviews to try and figure out why the car adapter would not work, but it was to no avail. After many attempts, all I heard was static. I use to have an IPod and I've never had any problem listening to it in my car. While I enjoy the Zune (120 GB), I'm thinking about returning it since one of the main reasons I got it was to listen to it in my car. Microsoft really needs to have a better product. After this experience, I will be reluctant to purchase another Microsoft product.
