Perfect July 30, 2004 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
Its Pefect. It cheap, and can hold a lot more songs then most mp3 players. It can hold 5 hours of music, and the best part is, you never have to earase your music to make room for more. You can just buy another disk, for only $2. Its very easy to install and you can get songs on to it very fast. Its cheap, easy to set up, tons of music, and great to run or workout with.
Good little player July 22, 2004 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I really like this little player. The sound quality is good, but I am mildly hard of hearing. You can tweak just about any option on this player, if you read the manual. I've been happily ripping my CD's and making mini disc mixes. It's pretty quick. The batteries seem to be lasting a long time. One mini disc holds about 40 songs. The music library manger software is pretty easy to use. You can drag and drop song within the mini disc. The software is a memory hog, but so are the songs. I have to reboot my poor old PC after I'm done if I want to do something else. CD's have to have the Compact Disc symbol to download into the library on your PC. If they don't have the label, you can use the different software to burn the CD directly to the mini disc through the player. Downloading music is okay. The Sony Connect music service is not very user friendly. There's no wish list. If you misspell a name or song title you'll never find what you're looking for. If it's a common name hundreds of options pop up. There's a lot of music available, but some of the songs I want aren't listed. I'm a cheapskate with dial-up and I have had download failures on my attempts to download music. Customer service told me that I have to disable my anti-virus, firewall, pop-up blocker, etc. in order to download. I finally figured out that you have to play the downloaded song before you can transfer it to the mini disc. I've transferred one of Amazon's free music downloads to mini disc. Sony says other music services are not compatible. I haven't checked to see if it's true. I can't afford iPod and for me this is a really nice alternative.
I recently flew round trip from Baltimore to San Francisco and listened to my mini disc player in the airport and on the plane. The player and a few mini discs were easier to carry than a cd player and cd's. And my cd player burns through a pair of batteries in 5 hours. A month later I'm still using the same battery in the little player. I'm really happy with this little thing.

i got this product for my graduation this product is awesome! the bad thing about this is that when you transfer music back to the computer you need to have that same computer, i got a new computer so i cant put it back the good thing is its cheap, it has good sounds, and the disk that they gave me can store about 5 hours of music
A good value. June 25, 2004 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
A good value. The battery life (1 AA) is incredible. All files (MP3 etc.) must be converted to the Sony file format but the included software does this. There are two programs. "MD Simple Burner" is the easiest and fastest way to get music from your audio CD's burned on a MD(3 to 5 minutes per CD.) "Sonic Stage" will convert various file types (mp3, wav, wma) to the Sony format and transfer it to the MD. There are 3 different transfer modes, SP, LP2 and LP4. SP provides the best quality while LP4 the smallest file. I don't download music from the internet so I can't verify this feature. The Good: It is cheap (mine was $100,) reliable, small, each disk holds 70-80 songs (5 hours of music) in LP4 form, good sound quality, disks cost less than $2, good battery life and has good anti-skip protection. The Bad: Sonic Stage is slow, awkward and unstable, tiny display, confusing manual, other than headphones and a MD, no other accessories are included. It is smaller and much cheaper than an IPOD and has much longer battery life. I use an inexpensive rechargeable NiMH battery. I use it in my car (a Miata) with a wireless FM transmitter. It is small enough to lock in the console and plays through the radio well.
