4-1/2 Stars August 20, 2008 This is a great weather alert radio. I bought it this spring when we were having constant severe weather here in Nebraska and our old weather radio had seen better days. More than once it alerted me to severe weather when I had no idea anything was nearby. I particularly like the power/battery option. I leave it plugged in but know it'll still work if the power goes out (which it did a few times this spring.) It's also easy to program to your own county's alerts. And you can easily switch back and forth between the National Weather Service broadcast and your local AM or FM station broadcast.
I like this so well I'm buying 2 more to give for Christmas this year. The ONLY reason I'm deducting half a star is because of the beep every time you make a change (radio channels at every point: 95.1 95.2 95.3 etc.) But Amazon doesn't give a choice for half a star so overall I'd have to rate it at 5 stars. (Beep is only annoying when you change settings.)
Would like a little more. August 18, 2008 Great unit, but it has a couple features that I would expect.
The key beep is annoying and I would like the ability to turn it off. When a weather alert occurs it does not display which county code it applies to.
Happinesss is fewer alerts:-) August 18, 2008 Easy set up, Not as many alerts when you narrow down the area. Quite happy with the unit.
great weather radio August 18, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a great weather radio and very easy to program once you read the directions. I've had several storms in my area and it works flawlessly. I really liked the idea of scanning only counties that I want and also warning and watches can be customized for whatever pertains to your area. The price was great and I'd order the exact same one again if something happened to it. It gives me a secure feeling to know that in the middle of the night I'd be warned of inclement weather.Bad storms can strike at anytime so I would encourage everyone to have one of these in their home.

This is our 2nd Midland Weather Radio we have purchased. The second went to our cabin where it is hard to find a weather station. We love the volume control. We are lite sleepers and don't need a loud siren that stops your heart when it goes off. We also like that you can set it to your specific county. Then it isn't going off contantly when bad weather moves through the state. Great product.
