I have had this radio for about a month and it has worked well. We have had several strong storms and the radio has come on every time. The one thing you will want to do is set the county codes for your area or else it will go off a lot more than you want. This is easy to do. I have mine set for my county and the four around it.

Very good weather radio that does exactly what it's supposed to do. My only complaint is you can't program specific events you want to be alerted to. This radio alerts all warnings and even watches in the programmed area. If you only want to be alerted to tornado warnings, you must step up to the WR-300. I think Midland should be more clear on this in their product description.
weather warning radio June 2, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The Midland radio arrived quickly. For a mid priced radio, it contains the features necessary for advance storm warnings, including easy instructions for programing the radio to warn you about the areas close to your site. I would highlly recommend it.

I bought two of these, one for myself and one for my mother. It gets pretty good reception. We are both pleased. I would recommend to anyone looking for a weather radio.

The radio works well and allows you to choose which counties to hear alerts, but does not allow you to choose which types of alerts i.e. tornado, flash flood, thunder-storm, etc. You have to get the next model up for that feature.
