Poor Design and Poor Performance February 2, 2005

I was looking for a cheap little FM radio with digital tuning that I could use to walk around the house with headphones on and this little device fit the bill.
When I got it home and opened it up one of the first things that I noticed was that the interface was poorly designed. When looking at the display you'll notice that the buttons are upsidedown. Not a big deal, it'll take a bit of getting used to but in all, not well thought out and kind of annoying.
Also the volume dial is just next to where you put the headphone jack so the headphone jack kind of gets in the way when you try to adjust the volume. Another example of poor design.
The final problem (a real show stopper) is the performance. I had problems picking up all but a few of the stations with very strong signals and got a lot of static as I moved around. Unfortunately the stations that I was able to pick up were not the ones that I wanted so I think I'm going to have to return this and pick something up that has a bit of a higher price.

Bought this for my daughter who really wanted to listen to 1560 AM and various FM stations. AM reception very poor especially in the car. FM reception is sporadic. Had to return it. Still looking for something that will work that is reasonably priced.
