Misrepresented September 18, 2001 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This item is misrepresented, in that the sports pouch was not included. It does not have a lap counter, or a stop-watch. It does not have the capability to switch from jazz, rock, or whatever else it said it would do. I am very disappointed. I went so far as to ask for another player in hopes that these issues would be resolved. Unfortunately, I got the same player, still with no sports pouch.
Buy It! August 16, 2001 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
This CD player is top notch...I just bought this product and it is the best. It will never skip unless you drop it from high up. I love to get up early and jog with it. Buy it!
My first CD player is perfect July 23, 2001 5 out of 7 found this review helpful
This is a great CD player. Hardly ever skips-never had mine skip. You can play a CD once through, set it to random play mode and even play CD-R/CD-RW discs in it without a fuss! Headphones that come with the product generally aren't too great. There's a lot of leakage and if you like swingback headphones, trust me, and get a pair from another company. This is my first CD player, and I've had no problems with it. Deals with rechargeable batteries well. A drawback, however, is that the lock that keeps the CD player shut can open itself, well, not really. If dropped, the dial can turn and open the CD player. Not a bad portable CD player at all, however.
Cool player..great sound July 22, 2001 17 out of 18 found this review helpful
I owned a panasonic before i went looking for a new one. My experience with it was quite good. my search for a new one came down to the panasonic SLX286J aiwa xp-sp290. a friend of mine already owned the slx286j and although i found the sound to be very good it wasnt that much of an improvement over the previous panasonic i owned, wich incidentally cost me half, so i decided to try the aiwa xp-sp290. i really wasnt interested in the car kits offered by quite a few other players or in having an AM/FM stereo. i was basically looking for a reasonably priced player that gives excellent sound and wich i can take with me on a jog, and the aiwa crosstrainer performs outstandingly on both counts. The sound is much better than wat i experienced with any player in the same price range and the dsl function really does add a thump to the beats.and it does not skip at all while im jogging too, thanx to the 48 second anti skip mecahnism . plus it looks absolutely cool as against the panasonic models wich look kinda plain, it plays all my CD-RWs wich is another advantage for all those having home-made CDs. I was kinda concerned about the battery life cuz i dint wanna spend a lot just on changin batteries, however the player dispelled this fear too . it gives about 28-30 hours ,plus it come with an inbuilt recharging capability wich i thought was really cool. Just pop in a pair of rechargeables and dont worry bout changin batteries for quite some time. Minus Points :well..nothin tat notable tat could take away a star or half..but if aiwa could throw in a few things like a nice remote and carrying case like panasonic does for its SL-SX28J,wich cost bout the same, then that would be really awesome. however...maybe tats askin 4 too much for somethin tats already so good, so i guess the 5 stars stay! All in all..if u r looking 4 a great soundin player within a reasonable price range and wich has a lotta other really useful features (48 sec anti-skip,dsl, rechargebility, great looks)the this is the one to go for!
