Solo S2 stands out July 22, 2008 Reviews I read varied from great to terrible. My experience has been only good to great. Batteries keep on going and going. Side by side comparison with my corded Valentine echoed the test data I saw that showed only about 10% less alert distance - still much better than most. My objective was use on my motorcycle; wireless to avoid clumsy electrical taps; compact, easy to remove and secure at stops. I can hear it through my helmet at highway speeds. It works well and fits perfectly in my locking accessory compartment. Better than expected. Improvements? Sure, a bit louder alarm [not a problem in a car]; can't see the display from the mount on my motorcycle [don't really care]; waterproof case [no one offers one and I can always stow it, if it rains]. Be sure to read the instructions completely before use, and adjust the settings as needed.
X50 8500 vs Solo June 29, 2008 I bought the Solo for my classic Mustang. I also own a X50 8500 but I did not want the cord. I do not use this car much maybe a few hundred miles per year. So,to test its performance I put it right next to the X50 in my daily driver for a few days. It seems to detect K band almost as good. Ka is a few seconds behind.I did not come across any laser. I do not fully trust this one yet. Those few seconds that its behind the X50 is crucial.I will add more as I use it. It is the only real choice for a cordless on the market right now. I would recommend the X50 8500 if a cord is not a problem.
Escort Solo S2 Cordless Radar and Laser Detector June 13, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This items is too weak and it eats batteries like no tomorrow. Also the worst is every-time you get in the car you have to turn it on. Its a pain. Get a wired one.
Great buy! March 11, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Short and simple, does the job, battery consumption greatly improved compared to other reviews I believe! I like it. Can't compare with corded versions aas this is my first detector but gives ease of mind.
Works Well for a cordless model February 22, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This unit works well for a cordless model. It does not do as good as some of my corded radar detectors from Escort but cordless never does. If you have to get a cordless radar detector this is the best one out there.
