Works great so far August 17, 2008 The Sony CFD-E100 Portable CE Radio Cassette Recorder was a good fit for our 8 year old son. We needed something easy to operate, which didn't take too much room, which had good sound, but wouldn't be so loud it would make us crazy in the living room while he played it in his room (well, truthfully, it can get loud if we allowed it!). The cassette side isn't a problem--he looks at this as a treasure chest of sound.
Back luck twice August 6, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I purchased this item and within 6 weeks and without a lot of use, the CD player quit. First the sound went in and out and then the no disc sign appeared. I sent it back to try again. It had shipped from Dependable Resource and they were FANTASTIC! I just received my second one and the cd player refused to play on the VERY FIRST CD. Again the no disc sign. So it is going back again and this time I am asking for a refund. But what a pain! The size was great for my kitchen and the sound just fine. But I purchased the item to be able to play CD's in my kitchen. Obviously, that I cannot do. Buy at your own risk.
Great Radio/CD/Tape Player August 3, 2008 Clear crisp sound. Smooth CD action. Tape insert is in back. Radio pulls in distant stations well. Small Stero big sound. Soft Maga base. I like it.
Sony CFD-E100 fails after short life July 16, 2008 9 out of 11 found this review helpful
My husband and I liked this fairly well, although it's a nuisance that the handle blocks the cassette door when the handle's down. After a few months, we began having trouble with cassettes (audio books) playing; the tape would continue to turn, but the we could barely hear the sound. We thought it was a problem with the volume, but it turned out to be the player; we had to wedge a piece of folded paper behind the Play button to make the sound work.
Last week, I moved it from one place to another, and the power wouldn't come back on. It hadn't been dropped or damaged or even used very much (only my husband and I use it, no kids, and we don't listen to books on cassettes very often). I checked the outlet, checked that the cord was secure in the player, checked the breaker, then checked the cord itself with a meter. Everything was working except the player. I "fiddled" with it, turning on first the CD then the tape instead of the using the power button, and it started working again. It worked for about 3 more days, then stopped completely. I put batteries in it, but it didn't work with them either, so the problem is definitely internal. When I did an online help search, I learned that this has happened to a lot of buyers: http://www.fixya.com/support/t123376-player_turn_period.
Can't recommend this product at all, unless you only want it for a few months.

The merchandise arrived quickly in excellent condition. However I needed to return it for another reason. The return process was simple and pleasant and the customer service was great. I would definitely purchase from this vendor again.
