Works great, great sound. April 7, 2008 Great product and gives a nice sound. It is quite heavy, so if you are a small person, pick something else if portability is an issue. It is very rugged as a consequence. No complaints. Docu could make you think you plug in a guitar and a mike, but you may key in either or. Aux in worked fine with my ipod, I have not tried the regular slot. Nice having the subwoofer and regular volume as separate controls. Like the white color, gives a clean look.

Loud poor sound terrible radio reception December 30, 2007 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
Purchased this for my wife for Christmas. She had a very old JVC boom box and loved it but it has started to fail after 10 years or more. First set this up and compared it to the very old JVC. High notes are exaggerated and no real treble control. Bass is exaggerated but at least you can turn it down. But the midrange is almost missing, unacceptable. We were considering living with it since very few true boom boxes are available now. Then we compared the radio reception of the new unit to her old JVC which no longer has an antenna. The new Boom box needed the antenna fiddled with for every FM station and still did not pick up many. Her old JVC with no antenna picked up all the local stations with no issues. Also the this unit uses a twist latch for the CD cover, which is inconvenient compared to the old system that just latched shut and had a mechanical push button that opened the CD compartment.
We did not try it with an iPod since that was not why we bought it. I have to admit that it is becoming impossible to find a good sounding boom box since the iPod's have taken over the world.
No surprise but we returned the unit. Very disappointed.
Top of the line sound in a conveinent package! December 28, 2007 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
First off Thank you Amazon, Shipping was early , got it in two days!
The JVC boombox is the best of any boombox I have ever heard yet. Features are just what I need, I can plug my mp3 player into it, it has battery backup to keep your presets when not plugged in, and you can change the base settings by just turning the top left dial. For the sound quality.... This thing sounds better then my buddies $700 home stereo. Speakers are excellent. For those that like to hear true base with there music, this is the box for you. I only turn it up half way and it will boom just like a car stereo. You can "feel" the base I will put it that way. I listened to all the work boom boxes that cost around the same price and others such as the sony xplod for example. Nothing else even came close to comparing to the sound quality, base thumping power of this stereo. I bought this to use on my work sites but I may just buy another one for at home, no need to waste space with a huge home stereo, this thing sounds like 15in. woofers thumping! VEry impressed, you won't be disappointed, well worth the money!
Bad Sound Quality December 13, 2007 5 out of 7 found this review helpful
I am very disappointed in the sound quality, am actually looking to re-sell the system. This machine can produce enough volume to be painful in close range, but (at least in the large gymnasium where I tried it) the volume drops very quickly as you move further away. And I don't know exactly how to describe it, but the sound is not satisfying - it's like some range of tones is missing. Yes, there's bass, and you can hear the overall piece that's being played, but the nuance in the middle just isn't there. Have you ever eaten food that's beautiful but tastes like nothing? This is the sonic equivalent.
